This webinar will provide an environmental scan that points to the need for creative and new approaches to work and jobs. It will look at the elements of flexibility in the workplace and at those business segments that may be early adaptors and those who may find it more difficult, through sharing of informtion and some research. Further we will discuss and examine the implication for HR and for Training and Development, by identifying the new or enhanced competencies that managers and hr team members will need to possess and that will provide the mindset that will allow flexibility to be a tool AND BENEFIT, not a punishment.

If we are to be competive in our respective markets and support our businesses creation of A BUSINESS model that will produce a sustainable future, workplace flexibility is one of the tactics that will have a critical impact on our success. However, flexibility is difficult to achieve and may lead to new issues and concerns. Some areas of business may resist and indicate that it isn’t suitable for them or their business. Our challenge is to determine if there is a way that all businesses can apppreciate and support “flexibility.” Why? Because as WE MOVE to a workfoce that includes 5 generations of workers it is one of the tools that will provide opportunties for bridging the communication and cultural gaps this diversity presents.

This topic requires creativity and non traditional approaches to business as usual. It launches that element of HR that is relatively uncharted and perhaps even unproven and yet it is an issue that has been on the hearts and minds of employees (across all levels of the organization) for severalyears and now other factors of demographics and economics are forcing business to transition the concept from discussion to reality. It offers an opportunity for reaching new talent pools and for enriching the lives of employees and their families as it offers solutions to real practical business issues of managing costs and meeting new demands for extended hours of client and customer sales and service. It additionally offers businesses the opportunity to leverage technology and to capitalize on their strengths and to be more proficient utilizing TECHNOLOGY TO DELIVER BOTTOM-line results.

Using customized executive coaching and strategic business consulting strategies, Ms. Woodard strives to heighten confidence in business leaders as they move into overseas markets, with special expertise in India. Her approach helps executives increase their understanding of the cultural nuances influencing business in outside the US and to engage in more meaningful and productive communications with overseas colleagues all for the purpose of increasing business results. Nina’s career has encompassed 32 years in the field of banking. Her rich Human Resources background includes leadership roles in practical day to day activity as well as significant change initiatives, including M and A work and establishing a shared services center for finance. She has worked across North, Central and South America, in the Middle East and in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan. These experiences have given her a truly global business perspective. In all of her roles she worked as an HR Strategic Business Partner with the line managers she supported. Ms. Woodard is the President of San Diego Society for Human Resource Management and the Sr. VP for Women Business Enterprise Council West. She is the mentor and business coach for Husys Consulting in India. She serves as a member of the advisory team for World HR Congress and Asia Pacific HR Congress. She serves on the Hospitality Committee and is a member of the finance council for St. Thomas More Church.
